Every little bite is being watched

Loki would watch every little bite that I would take and hope that it would magically fall on the floor. Does your Yorkie look at you with puppy dog eyes whenever you are eating something?

Maybe they don’t do that. Maybe your Yorkie takes the food out of their bowl to eat it somewhere else? Did you know that it’s because of the dog’s pack mentality; they want to get their food away from the (instinctual) fray so they can eat it in peace.

What should Yorkies eat?

The basis of your dog’s diet should be a high quality balanced premium dog food that is appropriate for the life stage and health status of your dog. Yorkies are largely carnivores. While meat makes up the majority of their diet, domestic dogs also derive nutrients from grains, fruits, and vegetables. These non-meat foods are not simply fillers. They are a valuable source of essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber. A good dog food will contain meat, vegetables, grains, and fruits.

Every little bite you take
We can’t forget about peanut butter! This is a great source of added protein and fiber for your pup and a tablespoon on their dry food is a surefire way to get them to eat it!

Keep it simple and lay off the salt and spices. Bland is better. You’re preparing food for a dog, not Gordon Ramsay.

Clearly, yorkies can eat a variety of food (still watching every little bite) like in the poem below!

My dog ate my homework.
That mischievous pup
got hold of my homework
and gobbled it up.

My dog ate my homework.
It’s gonna be late.
I guess that the teacher
will just have to wait.

My dog ate my homework.
He swallowed it whole.
I shouldn’t have mixed it
with food in his bowl.
